about

Enter the Instrumentarium…
South London electronic collective METAMONO are launching their new label Instrumentarium with Parcel Post, a stunning 10-inch consolidation of their uniquely idiosyncratic sound and vision.
Hot on the heels of January’s Tape EP, Jono ’Kumo’ Podmore [fresh from editing the monumental Can Lost Tapes project], Paul Conboy and Mark Hill are intensifying their mission to explore and celebrate a time before the soul of electronic music came under siege from the digital carwash and speed-dialled laptop clichés; recalling how punk was necessary to remind increasingly-overblown rock ’n’ roll of the primitive energy which spawned it, or even New York City before zero tolerance vaporised its funk.
The trio eschew sampling, overdubbing and digital polish in favour of the analogue machines which electronic music was built on, revitalising the human-fuelled elements of exploration, surprise and happy accidents. Their studio is an umbilical armoury of pre-used and hand-built vintage analogue synths and ring modulators, plus arcane accessories such as theremin, siren and valve radio; steered and goaded into infinitely-shifting sonic torrents which reached such a prolific peak that setting up their own label was vital.

The manifesto was agreed upon. ... more
